The pandemic has brought about unique challenges for the global education sector. For international students rejoining British universities this upcoming academic year, the lack of face-to-face instruction from teachers, educators struggling to adapt content for online learning and the relative absence of the ‘student experience’ will be compounded by a difficult job market. Can parents justify high fees when the anticipated educational and professional development outcomes are unlikely to materialise?
Earlier this year, our webinar on whether remote learning has come to stay featured frustrated voices from two students, Lipi from India and Rohini from Hong Kong, on expectations from their higher education.
Bridge India is delighted to work with the King’s College India Society to launch its first Mentoring Scheme for the academic year 2020/21, taking some of Lipi and Rohini’s challenges into account.
We recognise that making education work will be tougher this year, and we aim to use our network to help provide students a leg up in their professional development. Joining a mentoring scheme can have benefits for both mentors and mentees.
Mentees will learn new skills and build their confidence, but equally their paired mentors are likely to find the experience incredibly rewarding. Finding the perfect Mentor is never a one-size-fits-all situation. Mentees may face barriers because of culture, ethnicity, lack of familiarity with London as a student destination, loneliness, gender, sexuality and more.

To apply to be a Mentor, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with a few words on why, and we’ll get in touch with you to schedule a call. You would need to to the following timelines and a 6-month commitment. Preference will be given to Bridge India Members.
You’ll have a Coordinator from Bridge India to check in throughout the process and help you make the most of the Scheme.
